WET CAT FOOD TRANSITION GUIDE
Kicking the kibble out of your diet? Switching to Weruva wet cat food for the first time? Or, just trying an all-new flavor? That's wonderful, we're so glad you're here!
We commend you for transitioning to an all wet cat food diet. We believe hydration through high-quality meat is the cornerstone of sound nutrition for our companions.
Cats are "obligate carnivores" which means they are obliged to eat meat. It's important to remember that calories come from three sources – protein, fat and carbohydrates, and the first two, protein and fat, are in meat. Cats naturally require high-quality protein and fat, so at Weruva we formulate all of our products with this in mind.
In contrast, carbohydrates are not metabolically necessary and should be kept to a minimum. Carbohydrates are made of sugars and are primarily found in dry kibble foods, and dry kibble cannot be made without carbohydrates (carbs help keep that pellet together). This is why we only make wet cat foods!
Since Weruva wet cat foods are very high in moisture (over 80%), we always suggest a slow transition to a new wet cat food. Despite how much your feline friends ask for Weruva's high-quality foods (trust us, they will), it's best to transition them gradually onto a new food over a week. Start by mixing a small amount of Weruva in with their old food and slowly increase the amount of Weruva fed over 7 days. This will help your kitty to adjust to their new Weruva foods.
A great place to start would be in our Weruva Classic line. Our Paw Lickin’ Chicken is simply shredded chicken breast in gravy, or if you think they might enjoy a seafood option more, there’s Mideast Feast. From there you can see what they enjoy and branch out. Don't forget, we also have a new line of patés and Stews for those kitties that like a different texture or more gravy to lick up!
