When I adopted Cappy in 2017, I had no idea how much he would change my life. For those not familiar, Cappy (short for Copernicus) is an international rescue cat from Dubai who now lives his best life in Nashville, TN. Cappy is my everything, my heart and soul.
He has paresis, which was likely caused by nerve damage when he was a kitten. Because of that, he doesn’t have full control over his bodily functions. It doesn’t slow him down at all. He moves with the sweetest little bunny hop and is the biggest bundle of energy and mischief in our home.
How Pumpkin Became Part of Our Routine
Cappy’s doo doo has always been a sensitive topic, mainly because I felt like I could never quite get the consistency of his stool right. Because of his paresis, I help Cappy with his daily bathroom needs to make sure everything stays comfortable and regular.
Over the years, with guidance from our internists and vet care team, we went through a lot of trial and error. Incorporating different foods, supplements, hydration routines, acupuncture, and even long-term medication to help with inflammation. These days, we’ve simplified things and found a rhythm that works best for him: including his pumpkin care routine.
Pumpkin became part of Cappy’s daily routine in late 2022, and it’s made such a difference. Before discovering Weruva’s Pumpkin Patch Up, I used canned pumpkin purée from the grocery store, but Cappy wasn’t a fan of the cold leftovers after they’d been refrigerated.
